Information sheet – for a successful visit to THCONNECT 2026
What is a company’s typical perspective today?
- Companies are here to present themselves—to students and other companies
- They are not here to collect resumes
- Instead, they are here to provide information about
- their areas of activity and focus
- their general staffing needs and recruiting processes
- development opportunities within the company in order to highlight career prospects
- For company representatives, participation has been successful if
- they have had good conversations in terms of both quality and quantity
- they have been able to network with others – colleagues, students, other institutions
- more graduates from TH Wildau apply in the months that follow
What can you make of this?
- Don’t just wander through THCONNECT, but look at the exhibitor directory and think about which companies you want to visit
- If you do some research beforehand, you can get a rough idea of which employers might be particularly interesting
- The best thing to do is to make a rough comparison between your field of study and the company profile
- When you start a conversation, feel free to begin with this question to the company representatives:
- “Hello, for your company what kind of candidates are you looking for?”
- The answer will then refer to the profiles of potential applicants who are particularly attractive to the respective company
- After that, you should briefly introduce yourself
- “My name is …”
- “I am studying [subject] with a focus on … I have specialist knowledge in the areas of …”
- “I am looking for [my first job or a working student position] in the areas of …”
- The rest of the interview should then clarify whether and to what extent both sides are a good fit for each other
- “Are there specific entry-level positions for young professionals and high potentials?”
- “What opportunities do I have as an applicant if I only meet some—say 70%—of your requirements?”
- Some companies here should be large enough to offer a variety of entry-level opportunities and also give generalists a chance
Follow-up
- Network directly at the booth with company representatives on LinkedIn or collect business cards
- If it seems like a good fit, you can try to shorten the usual application process a little (although this is often very difficult)
- “Is it possible to have a short conversation with the line manager [of the specific team or department] in the next few weeks?”
- Otherwise, you can refer to the meeting in a future cover letter of a written application.
- “Dear Dr. Karbaum, Thank you very much for the informative and pleasant conversation at THCONNECT on October 14 in Wildau, which motivated me to apply for the position of [job title] at [company’s name].”
